Well, despite your personal opinions about the Grateful Dead "cover" band DSO, they've certainly gone through some changes since their "Jerry" left to go play with the real Bob and Phil that I though are worth noting here. Their knew guitar player Jeff Matson is pretty damn good, and if your up for an interesting listen, heres the earliest Grateful Dead show that they've ever covered,

I'm listening to Lovelight right now, and I tell you, its actually really good.

Notes:
- Performing 04/22/69 The Ark, Boston, MA
- This show was the oldest set of Grateful Dead music DSO had ever performed in 13 years together
- @ Jeff on Acoustic
- Jerry Birthday dedication before Viola
- Fantastic show! If there was any doubt about DSO changing the lead guitar role, this show should eliminate it.

Seeded to etree on:

there gonna be playing norfolk this coming thurs.. i'm lookin foward to it.jeff does play very well from what i've seen.these early show covers are always a treat.!! jam on DSO. i;d rather see a cover band than no band at all.there's always a cool scene at the shows.

Speaking of Grateful Dead cover bands, check out the Japanese Jerry. Looks just like Jer circa 1976! And the cute Japanese Deadhead chicks!

Brutal East wind today. Offshore fishing has been poor since hurricane Earl went by...

The Grateful Dead should have toured Japan! I wonder why they never toured any other continent besides Europe (and Egypt)? Drugs have anything to do with it?

I wish I had recordings of Kanazawa 1/10/73, Kyoto 1/12/73, Osaka 1/15/73 and Tokyo 1/18-19/73 from the Grateful Dead's tour of Japan in 1973!

Cool Clyptical Jam by the Tokyo Warlocks...
